Human Synergistics specializes in measuring and developing organizational cultures, leadership strategies, team synergies, and individual behavioural styles. All services are based on comprehensive, evidence-based research and an uncompromising commitment to the highest standards of quality and integrity —

whether we’re providing assessments, facilitating team-building simulations, hosting workshops for consultants and coaches, or providing consulting services to support the implementation of our systems and materials.

Integrated Diagnostic System

When it comes to developing talent, there are many assessments that measure, for example, competencies and effectiveness at the individual level, or empowerment and overall engagement at the organization level. However, a critical and often unmeasured piece that lies in between is “the how,” or the behaviors — the way people approach their work and interact with others. We measure all of the pieces, and therefore provide you with the complete picture.

The Human Synergistics Circumplex

A visual model for developing Constructive styles in individuals, managers, leaders, teams, and organizations. If you agree with the adage that “a picture’s worth a thousand words,” you’ll understand the beauty of the Human Synergistics Circumplex.

With this practical visual device, you:

  • can ‘see’ the thinking and behavioral styles that are driving the performance of people and groups in your organization, as well as the organization itself.
  • have access to a common language that you can use to quantify and discuss individuals’, teams’, managers’, and leaders’ behavioral styles and approaches, as well as the culture of your organization.
  • have a foundation for developing your people, improving performance, and enriching your culture.

A ground-breaking innovation when it was developed more than 40 years ago, and regularly reviewed and refined since then, the Circumplex has been applied and endorsed by millions of clients around the world — a true testament to its validity, relevance, and value. As you can see in the image below, the Circumplex breaks down the factors underlying performance effectiveness (at individual, group, and organizational levels) according to 12 behaviors or styles.

CONSTRUCTIVE

styles encourage the attainment of organizational goals through people development; promote teamwork and synergy; and enhance individual, group, and organizational adaptability and effectiveness.

Aggressive/Defensive

styles lead people to focus on their own needs at the expense of those of their group and organization and lead to stress, turnover, and inconsistent performance.

PASSIVE/Defensive

styles lead people to subordinate themselves to the organization, stifle creativity and initiative, and allow the organization to stagnate.

Blue, green, and red extensions on the Circumplex graphically depict statistical results and the styles' strength in terms of percentile scores — so you can see how your individual, group, or organizational results compare with those of thousands of other organizations that we've already researched.

Assessments we use

Measure organizational culture, levers for cultural change, and outcomes of culture, including customer service styles and quality of service, with our world-leading organizational surveys.

Organizational Culture Inventory® (OCI®)
The Organizational Culture Inventory provides a picture of an organization’s operating culture in terms of the behaviors that members believe are expected or implicitly required. By guiding the way in which members approach their work and interact with one another, these ‘behavioral norms’ determine the organization’s capacity to solve problems, adapt to change, and perform effectively.

A research-based alternative to employee engagement and opinion surveys, the Organizational Effectiveness Inventory is appropriate for data-based change programs designed to promote not only employee engagement, but organizational effectiveness as well. The OEI assesses 32 levers for cultural change as well as 12 outcomes of culture.
